Bogus Faith

We live in boastful days (I Tim 4:1 ff.). Virtually everywhere we turn we find people who talk a pretty good game. Yet, we know that talk is cheap when not backed up with  the right game. When it comes to your justification before God, this is one place we all need to examine from time to time (2 Cor.13:5 & Phil. 2:12) and not just talk a good game.

Is it possible to be a monotheistic, trinitarian and theologically orthodox believer and still end up in Hell? James 2:18-19 spells out that it is not only possible but a very real and scary possibility. James staunchly reminds us that we cannot separate our sanctification from our justification. That true saving faith will always demonstrate a life of progressive sanctification on ongoing good deeds.

We live in a day where knowledge is King. Our generation like many others before us is ever learning and veracious students of the Scriptures (Titus 1:16). However being around holy things and increasing your knowledge alone can be potential dangerous and damning. If that knowledge does not translate to the heart there exists damning consequences as noted this past Sunday in James 2:14-19.

I fear for those who attend church each week but potentially will end up in Hell because they “believed” and even demonstrated some temporary “works” but never surrendered themselves to Christ (Matt.7:21-23).

Please listen to the message from James 2:14-19 and ask yourself the hard questions.
